Life has a way of moving faster than we expect. One moment, you’re staring shocked at that positive pregnancy test and then the next your newborn’s tiny fingers are wrapped around yours. And before you know it, you’re chasing after a toddler with endless energy and watching your once tiny baby walk into Kindergarten.

As a photographer, I’m here to help you pause, breathe, and capture the beautiful chaos. With the Katie James Portrait Experience, I’ll work with you to create images that preserve the love and connection you share.

Investing in a quality photography experience is more than just purchasing images. These are the memories that will decorate the walls of your home, filling your space with love and joy every day. They’ll be cherished by you and shared with generations to come, becoming timeless reminders of where your journey began and how it has grown. My portrait sessions begin at $500 with most clients investing $750+.

Sessions can feel stressful. Whether it's a quiet newborn session with your first baby or an extended family session with 8 young kids all demanding the ice cream you bribed them with, a lot goes into the planning and executing of a great photo session.

From your first inquiry to receiving your completed gallery, I am with you every step of the way providing tips for outfits, locations, prepping your kiddos, and more.

On the day of your session, we'll go with the flow and let magic happen. As a mom of young kids myself, I've seen it all and no tantrums or refusals to smile can surprise me. I promise I've got some tricks up my sleeve to get even the most stubborn kids to smile for me.

Once the session is over, I go through and choose the best images. This typically ranges between 75-100 images, however I do not put a hard limit on it. You'll receive all edited images in an online gallery with printing rights.

THE SESSION EXPERIENCE YOU DESERVE.

In order to provide the best experience for our KJ couples, we only accept 15 weddings per year. Because of this, we tend to book up at least a year in advance. We recommend booking your photographer first thing after choosing a date and venue.

how far in advance do i need to book you for my wedding?

After the wedding day, we will share a sneak peek of your images to our blog within a week. Your full gallery will arrive to your inbox within 4-6 weeks of the wedding day. For sessions, turnaround time is 2-4 weeks.

how long will it take to get our photos delivered?

We are big fans of first looks! However, we will also never pressure our couples into doing something they do not want to do. We will simply help share the pros and cons of both options.

Do you recommend a "first look" on the wedding day?

We suggest planning for a minimum of 8 hours of photography on the wedding day. The KJ Wedding Experience includes 8 hours but couples have the option to add more time.

how many hours should we set aside for wedding photos?

We love working with new photographers looking to get into weddings. Send us a note and we can chat about having you shadow us on a shoot or wedding day.

Do you offer any consulting for other photographers?

I love continuing to work with our past KJ couples for anniversaries, maternity sessions, and as their families continue to grow over the years.

Do you photograph families or large groups?

I have several seconds that I work with on the wedding day. I cannot promise anyone specific as all of my seconds are also successful wedding photographers, but you can trust that they will be so much fun to work with and capture beautiful images!

who is your second on the wedding day?

For sessions, I typically deliver around 100 edited images. For weddings, you can expect to receive roughly 50-75 images per hour that we are shooting. We do not deliver RAW images.

Do you deliver every image from our shoot?
